“I firmly believe that a Council based on grassroots democracy with a high level of community participation is the only way to confront the many challenges we face.”

Dominic is the Greens Councillor on Bellingen Shire Council and lead candidate and mayoral candidate for the local government elections in 2016.

During his first term on Council, Dominic has gained valuable insight in to the workings, challenges and issues facing residents and the Council as an organisation. The role has enabled him to experience first-hand how local government functions and operates on a legislative and economic basis. He is Chair of the Council Environment and Sustainability Advisory Committee also.

A keen sportsman, Dominic played 200 for Parramatta, and is currently an U14 soccer coach.

Dominic has been the Convenor for the Mid North Coast Greens for the last six years.

“One of the toughest but most important and enjoyable parts of living and working in a community is embracing how diverse we are, making the time and space to meet a range of people and really listening to their needs and their ideas.”

Jennie is a scientist, disability advocate, parent, carer, student, masseuse, and a very active part of the community. She was awarded the Community Service Award on Australia Day in 2016 for her commitment to sustainability, social inclusion, community childcare, local festivals, community gardens, and refugees. The community activities she supports include Bello Bellonging (as founder of the grassroots social inclusion project), Northbank Community Garden (President), Bellingen River Festival (Environmental Coordinator), and the Council Community Wellbeing Committee.

Toni lives in Gleniffer and has 8 children in a blended family and 6 grandchildren. She has 40 years experience in education, including in the role of school Principal. Her wish for the Shire is to see inclusive, caring communities, with a thriving local economy. She believes this is best achieved through sustainable development, local renewable energy, local food production, and quality local health and education services.

Bill lives in Repton with his partner and is a registered nurse. He has worked in Mental Health and Alcohol & other Drugs for the past 40 years, and currently works in the Local Health District. Bill also has a Masters in Management and has been active in a variety of community organisations, including non-government mental health support agencies, peak professional nursing bodies, and community housing providers.
