Vision

[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
We have a vision of the Shire as a world leader in environmental sustainability, social cohesion and local economic stability.

This vision can’t happen without a new direction in local government, one that engages community, protects and enhances our natural, cultural and economic assets, draws on innovation and represents the needs of the Shire with both state and federal government bodies.

Bellingen & Shire-wide
• New ways of listening, sharing and working together
• Inclusive communities, from the mountains to the sea, through innovation, communication and leadership
• Vibrant town centres and waterfronts, with sensitive development and affordable housing
• Local opportunities in renewable energy, tourism, local food, small business, social enterprise and flagship projects
• Protection of our natural assets: our rivers, our forests and our beaches

Urunga Seaboard
With the bypass & the antimony processing site remediation ending, new opportunities for Urunga and coastal villages are a priority.

We need:
• Sensitive development
• Atherton Drive waterfront thriving
• Youth spaces equal to the high standard of adult spaces
• A tidal pool
• Greater accessibility in an ageing population
• Housing affordability
• A completely fresh approach to tourism

Dorrigo Plateau
Dorrigo is crying out for new employment opportunities, the tourism destination reputation it richly deserves and a revitalised town centre.

We would love to see Dorrigo become the Tasmania of the Mid North Coast, with farming, food, arts & crafts, parks & adventure tourism forming a unique focal point on the east coast.

What would you like to see?
